Serve

There is a lot to fear and then there is nothing to fear.
Fear mediocrity
Fear ridicule
Fear laziness
Fear complacency
Fear Silence
Fear not being yourself
Today is January 16, 2017, which is a day we celebrate MLK, Jr. Some people make a concerted effort to complete a service project. I fear some of these people don’t know why they are contributing. I fear some people only do it to accumulate service hours. I fear some people don’t act the rest of the year. Service isn’t a time of year, it’s a frame of mind.
I appreciate the fact that some people are heading the call to action. I appreciate the smiles and the quotes and the enthusiasm. I appreciate that today some things are getting done.
Every opportunity has opportunity cost. When we do something that means we gave up something up. The power of choice is ours. We never know the outcome of the choice we didn’t make. We may never know the outcome of the choice we made, or we may not know for years.
Serve anyway. It always works out in the long run. May karma be a real thing and everything you give sways the scale in your favor. Understand the “why” of service as part of servant leadership.

Peace.
