Gratitude -Part V -Kids are always happy until we teach them not to be.

Year 4 - Kids are always happy until we teach them not to be.
Hi Dr. R.,
I wanted to thank you for handling my daughter’s petition so gracefully. We had asked her if she followed protocol, went through the proper channels, etc. She just didn’t want to back down and her father and I admired her spirit. Thanks for letting her know you admired her courage. It meant so much to her to hear that from her principal.
Sincerely,
JS
Hey Frank,
Congratulations on another wonderful, positive and successful Renaissance event. I was proud of everyone and how well planned and exciting everything was. The students sat there in amazement at their classmates and were especially supportive of them. All positive!! Thank you Have a great spring break- renew, rest, and revive.
All my best to your family.
E.
Hello,
Tonight was a lot of fun - it was our first “Almost Anything Goes” experience. Our daughter was thrilled to be on Mr. P’s team and had a great time! It is always so refreshing to see so many teachers involved and enjoying themselves with the kids! They always give their time.
Elise
Dr. R.,
We just wanted to take a minute to tell you how impressed we were with how nice the presentation of the student awards were last night. It is a wonderful way to honor students for positive character traits. We were very proud of our daughter, and we think the honor that she received was very meaningful to her. Thank you for supporting a program that we feel gives children an experience they will never forget.
Sincerely,
Proud Parents
(I found out a few weeks ago that the student mentioned in this email is attending medical school!)
We were thrilled about the People’s Choice Award that our son received. He was so excited and proud. Thank you all for helping him prepare for high school. He is a different child the last few months. He is so excited and talks endlessly about the school and what is going on there. This is so different than a few months ago. He even wrote “kind of smart” in his self-description for his time capsule. This is a direct result of your encouraging words and pats on the back and making him believe in himself. I can’t say enough about what it means to us to see a quick result. You have made a tremendous impression. Thank you!
VV
Dear Superintendent Baruffi,
I wanted to let you know how impressed I’ve been with the outstanding job Principal Frank Rudnesky has provided Belhaven. As a parent I’ve been able to observe many times what an accomplished, caring, dedicated principal he is. Thank again!

Dear Dr. Rudnesky,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the attention you have given our children. I have heard that you are always in the hallways during change of classes. I have watched you “watch over” the children as they leave school to return home. Finally, I know that you have put yourself in front of what could have been a dangerous situation. I have explained to my children that your visibility and involvement are proof of your genuine concern for them.
I have only witnessed this once before, and that was when I was a child attending grade school in a very small town. After that, school became “everyone out for themselves.” With all the tragedies that have taken place in schools all over the U.S. the past few years, we parents no longer feel that our children are safe when they are attending school. You have begun to change that and for that reason I thank you for making sure my children were safe in school.
Though you may feel that your efforts have gone unnoticed, they have not. I am sure that when our children are parents, they will settle for nothing less than what they have received from you!

Much success and happiness to you and your family.
Sincerely,
RG

Dear Frank,
I just wanted to say thank you for all your support and help during this school year. Your motivation and energy to see this school year and the Renaissance program succeed are truly inspiring. You’ve helped me to become a better teacher and a more involved person in our school and for those things, I am grateful.
Have a wonderful summer and rest up for next year. I hope we learn many great things at the Renaissance convention to make next year as big as a success as this year.
Sincerely,
A.
Dear Mr. Rudnesky,
I would like to thank you for picking Hank’s name for winning the bike. The Renaissance program taught Hank the importance of the character trait of responsibility of wearing a helmet. He would be writing this note to you but the next day while riding the bike in our driveway, he toppled over the front of his bike and broke his wrist, a tooth, and cracked the helmet in half, an amazing sight when you consider that wearing a helmet truly saved him from a more severe injury.
Hank should be a poster boy for bike safety, not because he fell off his bike but because he has learned so much from the Renaissance program and other programs at Belhaven. He really enjoys and understands the importance of the traits that he has learned. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ted
Year 5- When an organization exhibits gratitude on a daily basis, remarkable events occur. Everyone feels important because they are important.

Frank,
I have been so impressed recently with the influence the Renaissance Movement has on our Belhaven students. While talking to parents of a student in a private school on a tour this week, their remarks about the difference both academically as well as in the character of the students brought me back to my first impressions here. Last evening was another time. I sat in awe of the number in attendance, as well as the number of students who excel here. You are commended for your relentless work towards that end!
Linda
Dear Frank,
We have often talked about the “cultural change” that has occurred over the last several years since you brought Renaissance to Belhaven. Although I was not around before your tenure as principal, I’ve heard enough to know that this place is very different.
The participation of students and staffulty in last night’s Almost Anything Goes activity was truly remarkable.
There is a sense of pride and excitement at Belhaven that, I believe, directly reflects the leadership you provide on a daily basis. Thank you for working so hard to make teaching and learning an enjoyable experience for all.
Sincerely,
Tom (superintendent)

Once upon a time there was a very lucky kid who loved a special dad and all the fun things that they did. That very special dad is you. That lucky kid is ME. Happy Valentine’s Day!- XXXXOOO Danica

Not all kids can get a bellyache from laughing with their dads. …Just the lucky ones. Happy Valentine’s Day from a lucky one! Franki
Forward from a teacher about the teacher:
Hello,
Without any 6th grade bias--your number today in the pep rally was by far the best--and your outfit was amazing!! You were a lot of fun to watch- it is always impressive to see you up and involved in all the great stuff!!
The pep rally is something that is very hard to explain--it would be a benefit to the school if the video could be replayed. I wish more parents could see the awesome positive message of events such as the academic pep rally!
A big power clap to you.

Frank,
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy working here. I have no doubt that this school is much better off for having you here. I know the staffulty will agree with me, as I often hear them sharing the same sentiments. They all enjoy having you as their principal but maybe not as much as me. It would not be nearly as much fun if it wasn’t for your enthusiasm for Renaissance and the various activities we share with the kids, community, and the staffulty. I respect your willingness to do things a little differently. Your hard work and dedication do not go unrecognized.
You rock!
Peace out brother,
Ned
Dear Dr. Rudnesky,
You and your team did a great job yesterday! Both events were terrific!
I also want to thank you. When I came to speak you several weeks ago, you did not just listen to me. You heard me, responded and turned ideas into reality. It is very clear to me that you and the Renaissance team-want things to happen. As I hope you can tell, I will work very hard for a team that puts the kids first and makes things happen.
Sincerely,
A Parent
