You Guys Are Special

Open letter to Belhaven Staffulty: Everyone deserves to feel special; however, everyone does not always feel that way. We all wrestle with our identity from time to time, and we ask ourselves if we are really making a difference. We never feel like we do enough to affect ourselves and the world in a positive way. If you stay true to yourself and what you believe, your compass will be always be pointed in a positive direction because you are special.

You are special in countless ways. Whether it’s a food drive, promoting a service organization, or raising money to improve our environment, individually you make a difference. Collectively, you make an impact. The power of that one canned good will matter. The power of that one penny, one idea, one goal, one vision, one mission always matters. You are special because you are different.

“Thank you” is an understatement. Every day I appreciate what you do for our students, staffulty, and me. When you are challenged, you do not fly under the radar. You soar above the storm. Your spirit is undaunted.

You become stronger because of your obstacles. You constantly remind me of why I am an educator. Thank you for who you are!
