Rock Stars
I went to my 34th Bruce Springsteen concert last
night. The event took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philly. Fifty thousand or
so fans on their feet for over four hours. Heck the guy is 67 and doesn’t even
take a break. The drummer, Max Weinberg, wore a shirt and tie and didn’t even
loosen the top button. He was making me
sweat just watching.
You can tell that Bruce and the E Street Band were
committed, prepared, and passionate. The set list was phenomenal. That sounds a
lot like most of the educators I’ve worked with over the last thirty years.
They go above and beyond to inspire the future of our youth. Their set lists are incredible as well.
I can’t help but think every time Bruce comes on stage: “Why
don’t educators get greeted like that?” The fact is we will never get the
professional status or respect that we deserve. Granted there are some that may
not deserve the recognition but most should be put on stage. The next time you
see a teacher, give him/her a standing ovation. Check out this Key and Peele
skit called Teacher Center – they got it right https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkHqPFbxmOU
Better yet, check out this group of educators- work hard, be
successful, have fun. http://www.schooltube.com/video/e68423238a2145eaa7cb/Project%20Rocky-%20The%20Beginning
Have a great school year!!
P.S.- I’m going again in two days to see Bruce in Philly!!!
