Short Version of a typical day



My wife made the mistake of asking me what I did all day. I am by no means the busiest of the busiest principals but I jotted down my day for her. My day:

Short Version

Walked in, Sat down
Booted up my computer
Talked to IT
Opened and printed my clipboard sheet
Wrote goals for the day and week
Checked calendar
Checked email
Walked through building
Went outside, greeted students, with signs, music, and fist bumps
Tossed a football with a few students
Talked to several students - about their positive character
Stood in hall with music still playing
Fire Drill, monitored, checked rooms, documented, proctored return
Met with I & RS chair
Started SS training module
Completed BOE travel report
Visited Classrooms, talked to teachers, students, immersed in lessons
Meeting w/teacher
Visit more classrooms
Checked calendar
Answer emails (10AM now)
Visit more classrooms
Teacher mtg
Proctor 5th grade lunch, talk to kids, play music
Walk students to class
Checked email
Post to school Twitter
Call guest speaker
Check weather update (impending hurricane)
Contact long term sub
Check w/ business office for speaker check
Call speaker bureau
Mtg w/school counselor
Walk through 7th grade lunch
Eat slice of pizza, water
Call parent
Review schedule options
Walk outside during dismissal, talk with students
12:50 Mtg w/schedule committee
1:50 -Mtg w/ STEAM PLC
2:50 - Renaissance Steering Committee
3:45 - BOE president round-table
