Back to School Night - The Real Superstars

 To Our Staffulty:

Sometimes I wish you could be me. As I walked around the entire school last night, I wish you could have listened to all the conversations I had. I wish you could have seen all the smiles I received.  I realized what I already knew: You guys are the Real Superstars. The heck with the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, movies, and television. When it comes to changing lives and impacting futures, no one can influence our future more than you.  I had many conversations with dozens of parents both before and after our 107^th Annual Belhaven Back to School Night. 

The dialogues before they met you revolved around your strength and the integral part you played in helping this community heal. They pointed to the unselfishness you displayed in keeping us strong.

The conversations when they were leaving continued the excitement they felt when they heard you speak and the anticipation of a wonderful school year. 

People stayed around the lobby to take their turn in telling me their different stories, they shared with each other and the excitement they were feeling for a new school year. I finally stepped in my car around nine.

I wish you could be me but I’m glad you are you.
